SATHGURU GEETHA

extracts from pravachans of our guruji

The auspicious month of September has brought with it the joyful festival of  "Krishnajayanthi". It is a usual practice that during Krishnajayanthi everyone engages themselves in decorating the idols of Bagawan Krishna, preparing various eatables for offering it to Krishna and performing pujas. According to everyone the concept of Krishnajayanthi is restricted to this only. This does not mean that this is the wrong way of celebrating Krishnajayanthi but one has to go beyond this.

The correct way of celebrating Krishnajayanthi is to dedicate your hearts and minds in doing namajapam of Bagawan Krishna continuously and remembering his Leelas. Whatever the offerings may be but it should be made to Bagawan Krishna with such a love, devotion, dedication, thirst, eagerness and desire that Bagawan HIMSELF should be readily waiting to accept it.

It is not that Krishnajayanthi comes only once in a year. If you engage yourselves in continuous namajapam and have unconditional faith then each day and every moment is Krishnajayanthi. You will be able to feel Bagawan Krishna who already exists within you.

Bagawan Krishna is eagerly waiting to shower HIS grace on each jeevathma who is longing for his love. If you call Bagawan Krishna with wholehearted love and devotion then HE would willingly perform Leelas with you and bless you with divine experiences. These experiences would give you paramanandam (eternal happiness). Enjoying this eternal happiness means celebrating Krishnajayanthi in real sense.

Bagawan Krishna is the ocean of mercy. All the jeevathma's are HIS children. Our duty is to lead a life as per HIS wish. HE is always there to take care and fulfill our every small need. Bagawan Krishna who gave happiness to HIS bhakthai Sackubai and got tied at her hands in this kaliyuga, who came in the form of Narasimha to rescue HIS five year old bhaktha Prahalad, who wholeheartedly accepted the food offered by Namadev, who worked as a servant in the house of Ekanath, who used to be eagerly waiting to save his bhaktha Tukaram from all the difficulties, who fulfilled the desire of even a mountain named Gowardhanagiri by lifting it with HIS own finger, who gave HIMSELF to the Gopi's of the Vraja Bhoomi and played Rasa Krida with them would undoubtedly respond to your call also. All that you need is a little desire and love for Bagawan Krishna in your hearts and mind. Bagawan Krishna gets pleased even with the little love, which you have for HIM and will showers on you HIS unlimited blessings.

What is the harm in calling Bagawan Krishna who is waiting for your call? All of you have an ambition of becoming a doctor, engineer, chartered accountant, lawyer, scientist, and so on. But along with this ambition you should also try to lead a life and do bhakthi like Prahalad, Dhruva, Meera, Sakhubai, Janabai, Aandal, Tukaram, Jayadevar, Namadev, Swami Ramanujar, and all the great bhakthas who resided on this Bharatha Bhoomi. If you have the true desire to see Bagawan Krishna then Krishna would surely come and play with you, dance with you, sing with you, be with you at each and every moment of your life, make you enjoy the real happiness, and bless you. This itself will make you experience the happiness of Krishnajayanthi in each and every moment of your life. Just by dedicating your hearts and minds to Bagawan Krishna you would float in the ocean of happiness and will be permanently relieved from all your sorrows, miseries, confusions, burdens and tensions.

Now it is in your hands whether to celebrate Krishnajayanthi once in a year or each moment of your life.

For all jeevathmas who do namajapam and have unconditional faith on Bagawan each day is Krishnajayanthi although this year's Krishnajayanthi festival is over.

This is the great paasuram of Sri Madhura kavi aazhwaar. In this pasuram Sri Madhurakaviaazhwaar describes the power and mercy of his Aacharyan Swami Nammaazhwaar.

Swami Nammazhwaar  changes the life of every bonded soul which is not in a position to accept the reality. There is no benefit for Swami Nammazhwaar by changing that souls attitude toward the life and God.That is the mercy of Swami Nammazhwaar.  Sri Madhurakavi aazhwaar describes that he is keenly trying to attain the love in Swami Nammazhwaars lotus feet who is the Nambi of Thirukurugoor where kuyil's(cuckoo) were singing in the park.Even though  Swami Nammazhwaar is not benefited by us in any way, He being the ocean of mercy engages Himself in training and correcting us through His Upadesham and behaviour. Although we are a total scrap He takes every effort to make us a diamond. Such is the greatness of  Sadaacharyan of Sri Madhurakavi aazhwaar who enjoys the Paramanandam and hails from Thirukurukoor, which is known for its fertility.

Bagawan is in existence in this kaliyuga in the form of a Sathguru. All the jeevaathma's are not great bhakthas that Bagawan HIMSELF would come in front of us and solve our queries and problems. Even if the merciful Bagawan appears in front of us we would call for proof and won't accept HIM. Hence, Bagawan sends a Sathguru in the ordinary human form, as HIS messenger to prove HIS existence to all the jeevaathmas.

A Sathguru looks upon every human being as a jeevaathma irrespective of its caste, creed, sex, status etc. A Sathguru gives Upadesham to all the grieving and craving souls. The day a jeevaathma gets Mantra Upadesham from a Sathguru it's a rebirth for that jeevaathma. While a Sathguru gives Upadesham, He takes away all the sins of the previous, present and the future birth and makes us relieved from all the sufferings, sorrows, burden, tensions and prarabdha karma. Sathguru creates a strong feeling in every jeevaathma that it is the child of Bagawan Krishna.

Even if we are the neglected ones and considered to be a mere scrap, a Sathguru lifts us up, provides us a helping hand, guides us, develops a confidence within us, teaches us Namasankeerthanam, bhakthi and finally make us enjoy the real happiness. A Sathguru is never concerned about His well being, as His sole intention is to feed bhakthi in each and every jeevaathma. By making every jeevaathma experience the divine grace and enjoy the eternal happiness, a Sathguru is not benefited in any way nor do they expect anything in return for this. The only expectation of a Sathguru is that all those jeevaathmas who have surrendered before Him must perform all their duties perfectly by doing continuous namajapam and lead a happy life. The only faith of a Sathguru is Bagawan and His only strength is Bagawan's nama.

There are infinite instances in the history of our Bharatha Bhoomi to prove the power and greatness of a Sathguru. It was only Sathguru Naradha Maharishi who showered His grace on the robber named Ratnakaran and taught him "RAMA" Namasankeerthanam. This changed Ratnakaran from a robber to Valmiki Maharishi and made him write the divine script "Ramayana". Bilvamangalar was drowned in the love of a prostitute named Chintaamani, who was a bhakthai. She asked him to divert this deep love, which he had for her towards Bagawan Krishna. This proved to be a turning point in his life and changed him from Bilvamangalar to a great Krishna Bhaktha, Leela Surar. He accepted Chintaamani as his Sathguru and gifted us with a divine script known as "Krishna Karnaamrudham", by dedicating the first sloka to his Sathguru, Chintaamani.

This reveals the necessity and importance of a Sathguru in the life of every jeevaathma. The duty of every jeevaathma is to surrender itself to the Lotus feet of Sathguru and follow His teachings

ACHYUTHA PRIYA

short stories to regain your faith

The time has arrived to know what happened with the youth who was unknowingly drowned in namasankeertanam when the thieves dragged him down from the treetop.

Till that moment the youth was doing namasankeertanam with the sole intention of wining the challenge. He was totally unaware of his surroundings and also the people around him. The youth came out of the world of namasankeertanam only when the thieves dragged him down.

Even though the youth did namasankeertanam only to win the challenge, it made him forget everything and unknowingly he got drowned in it. This itself reveals that even if we do namasankeertanam with an intention to test it, it would yield fruitful results and develop within us an interest to do namasankeertanam. Such is the greatness and power of namasankeertanam. In this kaliyuga Bagawan Himself is in the form of namasankeerthana . Hence namasankeerthanam is the only easiest and simplest way to attain Bagawan Krishna in this kaliyuga.

"KruthE yadh vishnum ththrEthaayaam yajathO makai:

dhvaaparE paricharyaayaam kalau thath harikeethanaath"

( Srimath Bhaagavatham 12-3-52 )

The result that one yields in kritha yugam by doing dhyanam (meditation), the result that one yields in thretha yugam by doing yagnam, the result that one yields in Dwapar yugam by doing archanai (pooja); the same result is derived in this kaliyugam jusy by chanting Bagawan's Nama.

Everyone in this kaliyuga is leading a very busy life. One does not find time to read the Holy books like Ramayana, Mahabharatha, Narayaneeyam and other divine scripts but it is possible for everyone to do namasankeerthanam in this kaliyuga. The only requisite for namasankeerthanam is desire and there is no restriction regarding place, time, money, caste, creed etc. Namasankeerthanam can be done alongwith our daily routine work.

The thieves who had dragged the youth from the treetop started asking him the reason behind leaving the food over there. But the youth was completely blank as he was unaware about it. Then the youth revealed the whole truth behind his coming to the forest but it sounded very foolish to the thieves. The thieves refused to accept this story of the youth. As the thieves doubted that the food contained poison they asked the youth to eat it first, but the youth kept on refusing and this strengthened the belief of thieves.

Finally two of the thieves held his hands, one of them opened his mouth and the other one dumped the food inside his mouth. The youth was helpless and was forced to eat the food. Inspite of this the youth kept on repeating the same story. Thus the thieves considered him to be a fool and left the place.

"Yathra vaa thathra vaa dhEva yadhi visvasimas thvayi

nirvaaNamapi dhurvaaram arvaacheenaani kim puna:"

                                                                                                      (Krishna Karnaamrudham-3-71)

Any situation it may be, if I have faith on my Bagawan, then in that situation itself and at that very moment if HE would give me Moksham itself without any trouble then whether it is necessary for me to say that HE would give me the worldly pleasures also?

For instance: a person who is in need of Rs. 1,000/- if given a cheque of Rs.10, 000/-, then won't his need of Rs.1000/- be fulfilled? This itself means that if we do continuous namajapam and have faith on Bagawan, HE makes us eligible for Moksham(salvation) itself; then is there any necessity to ask whether HE would fulfill our worldly pleasures?

Situation does not matter for Bagawan, but the only thing HE expects is namajapam and faith on HIM, if we have these two then our worldly pleasures will be fulfilled by HIM within no time and not only this but HE would gives us Moksham itself.

The youth had entered the forest with a stern belief that there would be no one to provide him with food over there. But the elderly person had stubborn belief that if the youth would do Namasankeerthanam then he would be provided with food irrespective of place and circumstances. So as to pay heeds to the prayer and belief of that elderly person and to make the youth realize the power of Namasankeerthanam and the truth in the words of that elderly person, Bagawan played such a Leela with that youth.

Such is the greatness and mercy of our Sathguru and Bagawan. Sathguru takes every possible effort to uplift every craving jeevaathma. The sole intention of a Sathguru is to give eternal happiness to every jeevaathma and to offer that jeevaathma as a flower on the Lotus feet of Bagawan. The elderly person who is in the form of Sathguru for that youth was in no way going to be benefited by this challenge. The only one who was going to be benefited was the youth. As the elderly person (Sathguru) had unconditional faith on Bagawan Krishna he was sure that Bagawan would make the youth realize HIS mercy and understand the power of Namasankeerthanam.

After the thieves had left the place, the youth started memorizing the whole incident that had taken place in his life for the past three days. He started remembering the words of that elderly person. It was at this point of time the youth realized that while he was doing Namasankeerthanam even thirst, hunger and other things did not affect or disturb him for the three whole days. The youth had neither any sincerity, dedication, devotion nor any desire to do Namasankeerthanam. Inspite of this Namasankeerthanam proved its result. Even on doing Namasankeerthanam in such a way in that dense forest the youth was seated comfortably on the top of the tree without any fear, tension, and disturbance and at the end of the third day, he was provided with food without his personal efforts.

This entire event made the youth realize the power and greatness of Namasankeerthanam and the truth in the words of that elderly person. This developed within him a strong belief that Bagawan is in existence in this kaliyuga also and is eagaerly waiting to provide a helping hand to all those who call HIM. Tears of happiness started rolling down his cheeks. He understood that although he had lost his challenge the elderly person who is in the form of Sathguru had made him victorious in his life. Through this challenge the elderly person had showed the youth the correct and the real way of leading a happy, contented life. The elderly person had taught the youth a lesson that the sole purpose of our life is to do Namasankeerthanam and to lead a life for Bagawan.

On realizing this fact, the youth ran eagerly to fall on the feet of that elderly person who taught him to enjoy the eternal happiness. The youth reached the temple and everyone including that elderly person was engaged in doing bhajans. The bhajans were going on in its full swing and everyone was totally immersed in Radhekrishna Namasankeerthanam. The youth who previously considered the bhajans as waste of time and a silly superstition and used to get irritated was now very eager to hear those bhajans and wanted to get drowned in it. He too sat down and joined them. After having such a great experience of realizing the power of namajapam and the mercy of Sathguru(elderly person) he enjoyed every moment of that Radhekrishna Namasankeerthanam and got involved in it.

After the bhajans got over, the youth ran to that elderly person and fell down at his feet. The moment the elderly person saw the youth; he could find a great change in him. He lifted the youth and the youth revealed the truth to that elderly person. The elderly person was confident that Bagawan's nama would surely prove its results and that was what had happened. Seeing the mercy of Bagawan Krishna the eyes of that elderly person got filled with the tears of happiness.

This was the rebirth of that youth due the unconditional faith that the elderly person had on Bagawan Krishna. Though the youth had insulted that elderly person, he remained indifferent to it. The sole intention of that elderly person was to make the youth realize Bagawan. Such is the mercy of the great Sathgurus of our Bharatha Bhoomi. No words can be put together to express the mahima and the greatness of Sathguru. A Sathguru has such a remarkable power and capacity that He can pick up scrap and make it as precious as a diamond.

Every human being in this world has some or the other defects. Such an ordinary human being cannot take right efforts to correct and remove the defects of another human being. The only one who can read and understand our mind and heart, remove all our defects, guide us, show us the right way to lead a happy life forever, teach us Namasankeerthanam, make us understand and realize the mercy of Bagawan is none other than a Sathguru. Sathguru is not an ordinary human being but HE is the messenger of Bagawan. Sathguru is the only Aathmabandhu of every jeevaathma.

From the day the youth realised the truth in the words of that elderly person he accepted that elderly person as his Sathguru and engaged himself in doing kaingaryam(service) for his Sathguru. He remained ever grateful to his Sathguru for forgiving all his mistakes and teaching him Namasankeerthanam and making him realize the power of Bagawan. The youth performed all his duties as he used to do previously but the only difference was that now he had a Sathguru and was doing Namasankeerthanam while performing all his duties. Till these days the youth had never enjoyed such a happiness, which he was experiencing now. The youth was relieved from all his burdens as he had shifted his entire responsibilities on the shoulders of his Sathguru and to the Lotus feet of Bagawan Krishna. The only thing he knew was Namasankeerthanam and the mercy of his Sathguru. This made him lead a happy, contented and a tension free life.

Every youth who is impressed by this story can test the power of Namasankeerthanam just as this youth did. Even if we take a little interest in doing Namasankeerthanam along with our routine work it would become a usual practice for us. Doing Namasankeerthanam along with our routine work would cause no harm to our work. It would contribute in performing our work in the most perfect manner. Chanting Bagawan's nama does not call for any expenditure nor involves any waste of time. The only fruitful result it yields is eternal happiness, divine experiences and a permanent end to our sorrows, sufferings and tensions.

Namasankeerthanam is the only way to lead a happy life in this kaliyuga. A Sathguru teaches us Namasankeerthanam and makes every effort to uplift us from this samsarasagaram. Hence life without a Sathguru is beyond imagination.

Bagawan Krishna has showered HIS mercy on us by taking the form of Radhekrishna Namasankeertanam in this kaliyuga and has blessed us with such a merciful and compassionate Sathguru Mahan Brahma Shri Gopalavallidasar. Now we have with us Namasankeertanam and a great Sathguru, so why not reap the benefit of enjoying the real happiness by surrendering ourselves to HIS divine feet.

 RADHEKRISHNA

POOJYA SHREE SHREE AMMAVKU JAI

Till recently, I had a neutral view as far as topics like spirituality, existence of god etc were concerned. I never bothered to spare a moment and think on these topics. Little did I know that my view was to change dramatically.

When I met Guruji- Mahan Brahma Shri Gopalavallidasar for the first time, guruji asked me to try chanting "Radhekrishna", exactly in the same manner as anyone tries eating a food item he has never eaten before. I tried it and found it very effective. Previously my mind used to wander in the past and the future It never used to remain stable. But due to chanting, I found that mind remains stable. Chanting has given me peace of mind; something that I had been searching for; since a long time but hadn't found it. Now I feel that anyone who complains about tension stress etc should definitely try chanting.

I also started attending sathsangs held by Guruji and though I don't know Tamil, the atmosphere in which sathsang was held and merely the sight of Guruji used to relieve me of all kinds of fatigue. Since I can speak Telugu, I can grasp certain Tamil words. Whenever I see Guruji I feel very confident and energetic. Of the several incidents where i was at cross wads not knowing where to go and chanting showed me the right direction; here is one of such incidents.

I was the captain of our college team in the Inter collegiate chess Tournament. This event had won by us for the last six consecutive  years. The sports Head of our college had told me that I had to guide and motivate the team and win the trophy for the 7th year in succession. Our team was relatively weak as the senior players had completed their education and left our college. The incident took place just hours before our college team faced the toughest rival team. it was a must win situation for us. Younger players of our team had played with members of that rival team previously in other individual competition and lost. I had to take a difficult decision of selecting four players of six players and leaving out 2 players.

I kept racking my head as to whom to pick and whom to leave out. It suddenly stuck me that the solution to the problem was simple. I closed my eyes, chanted Radhekrishna and prayed to Lord Krishna to give me an answer and show me the right direction. I opened my eyes within a half a minute, and told my final choice to all the team members. It so happened that the players that I had chosen for the game; all four of us beat our counterparts of the rival team. Later all my team members, coach and Head of sports praised me for my good work.

But I knew what the truth was this victory was only due to chanting Krishna's name and Guruji's kripa(grace). Hence I dedicate this victory to Krishna.

Until Guruji tells me to write again.
